Meeting Report

Place : ADMC - M06
Date : 25/June/2012
Presentors :
Chairman : Mohammad Shams
Secretary : Hasan
Participant : Omar , Ahmad

The Chairman Mohammad Shams opened the meeting by introducing the members to each other and stated the agenda of the discussion that took place in M06 under the supervision of Mr. Hedley Butterfield.

The topic was the traffic congestion in Abu Dhabi and how can we solve it.

We started the agenda by talking about how serious the problem is. Mohammad Shams began by giving his opinion and saying that the problem is very serious and it can get bigger because the number of cars on the road is increasing and the number of roads isn’t sufficient we all agreed with him and  Omar also added his opinion by saying this is a problem, and this problem needs to be solved before it gets out of hand. I was writing the main points of what we said.

After that, it was time for discussing the solutions for the problem and they were:

Improving the existing traffic system, Improving parking spaces, controlling traffic lights in a more efficient ally , raising the age of driving license registration and public transport.

After a long debate between each other about these solutions, each individual stated which was the most effective solution in their opinion was.

Omar fixated on  fixing the roads and building bridges is the most effective way to solve the traffic congestion, because it will provide more roads to drive on, but it needs to be done as soon as possible.

I stated that the best solution is to organize traffic lights properly some agreed but Omar didn’t because he thought that not all streets of abu dhabi have traffic lights, so this solution will only work in certain places.

Ahmed stated that the best solution is to restrict driving for people less than 25 years old. Mohammad Shams disagreed with it because he believed that people at the age of 18 work and have responsibilities they definitely need a car to get them from point A to point B, and Omar agreed along with Shams because in our society , a lot of people around that age get married  then Ahmed changed his opinion and said it's better if we educate the drivers properly.

Mohammad Shams agreed with Omar's opinion because he saw how the roads in Japan are not as busy as Abu Dhabi even though they have more cars than us, and thats  because the design of roads there is better and having bridges helped them a lot.

In conclusion, the four of us contributed to this meeting it was fairly organized and had a lot of good solutions since most of us traveled abroad and saw how their roads are far more developed than ours the meeting went by easily with the guidance of the chairman who directed the meeting in a proper way.
